With COVID-19 still upon us, your co-directors have been working on ways of creating opportunities for coming together as a Suzuki string community and making music.

The safest place to meet is outside, so we will start our year by meeting outside at Fulton Place Park on Monday September 14 for students with last names starting with M-Z and September 21 for students with last names starting with A-L.

Please arrive by 6:15 so we can be socially distanced and ready to play by 6:30. Use the parking which is accessed on the west side along Fulton Road.  Follow the directions given by our parent volunteers.  Lower strings will gather east of the parking lot and violins on the south.

Your STE faculty is putting together a list of favourite Suzuki repertoire for us to play together. Your teacher will be reviewing these pieces in your lessons so that you know which pieces to carefully review in your practice so you are prepared to enjoy this experience of playing together after all of these months of being apart.

Please wear a mask and maintain social distancing of 2 metres so we all stay safe and healthy!

Evening temperatures can be quite cool in mid-September; please dress accordingly.

In the event of inclement weather we will post a notice of cancellation by 3:30 on the STE website at https://ste-suzukistrings.org

Please bring:

  • your instrument (and bow)
    • Please tune before you arrive, or in the car if you arrive early – due to COVID restrictions teachers will not be able to assist with tuning at these events
  • A carefully fitted mask that is comfortable to wear while playing
    • (please do a bit of review practice wearing your mask so you know what it feels like)
  • Cellists and bassists
    • a chair or stool (there will be no furniture at the park)
    • endpin support so your endpin doesn’t sink into the grass
