Happy Thanksgiving! 🍂

We're thankful for every family making music together at STE, and for our wonderful teachers and staff who make it all happen. Thank you for growing with us. 🎶

STE is growing! 🌱 We're a community of growth where every child can bloom through music. As Dr. Suzuki said, "Where love is deep, much can be accomplished" — and we see that every day in our young musicians. Come make music with us: violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano, guitar, and voice lessons for kids — and parents are welcome to join in too! Take lessons alongside your child, or try one of our adult lesson packages. 🎶

A look inside our group classes this afternoon! 📸 Thank you to all the families for helping your musicians show up ready to play today.

Whether playing violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano, or guitar, everyone brought amazing focus and shined bright. ✨

It is so inspiring to watch these musicians build new skills, gain confidence, and support one another in every single session. 🎻🎹🎸

We are already looking forward to next Monday and can't wait to see our whole music family back in action! 👋

From the bottom of our hearts here at STE, THANK YOU for another excellent year of group lessons! Whether it be attending rehearsals and carefully preparing pieces of music, to setting up/tearing down chairs and stands, to taking notes during lessons, the Suzuki Triangle presents itself through each task: as skills and responsibilities shared between teacher, parent, and child. We at STE are so grateful to see the strength of that bond at the lesson and on the stage, and we are so excited to welcome everyone back next year, and to nurture that Suzuki Triangle so much more. 💜

with that being said:

Active listening, gestural communication, and the

Active listening, gestural communication, and the exploration of sound; any ensemble - be it a chamber duo, or an orchestra - cannot function without these three skills.

The ear plays a much larger role in what pitch or dynamic to play next, once the visual aspect of “notes on a page” is removed (just for a while). The unpredictable nature of improvised music forces students to engage and understand one another non-verbally. Through experimental improvisation, students are encouraged to “think outside the box” in terms of musical expression and composition, all while contributing to a unifying sonic timbre. After all, it’s nice when it sounds composed!
