HUGE Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our annual STE Graduation Gala at City Hall; congratulations to all the Twinklers, Cellos, Violins, and Violas, who prepared tremendously for their solo and group performances, well done! Also very fitting to announce that as of today there will be no GROUP classes until April 3rd, 2023 - after spring break. Heads up! Community concerts are coming. We have 2 performances back-to-back! Saturday March 4th at 10:30AM at the Downtown Farmer's Market, and Sunday March 5th at 1:00PM at West Edmonton Mall near Phase IV Stage (located in Phase IV, behind the Lego Store and in front of Toys 'R' Us!) What better way to spend the first weekend of March than experiencing live music and getting a bite to eat after, or do some shopping!

Did you know you can take group classes at STE without being an STE member? Our group classes are open to all music students. That's right, you don't have to be enrolled in private lessons to take Orchestra, Chamber, or Improvisation! Simply visit our website and register for group lessons separately from private lessons. Be sure to share and spread this information around, as we are always excited to welcome new enthusiastic players in our ensembles.

With the graduation videos submitted, the fine preparations for the Gala concert are underway. How do we best prepare for a recital? Here are just a few tips:

1. Make sure your instrument is in tip-top shape. Check your strings, check your bow, make sure that you maintain your instrument to the standard you will perform with it in.

2. Follow and know the plan in your music closely - all the fingerings, bowings, phrasings - know these things like the back of your hand and you will 100% know what to do when you play your piece on stage!

3. Perform your piece(s) in front of a small audience (can be family or friends or both!) a few days prior to the concert. This will simulate the adrenaline you will feel when you perform at the Gala, but in a low-pressure and informal setting, giving you an idea of what sections to look out for if you get any performance jitters!

We're getting ready for our Lottery Concerts next

We're getting ready for our Lottery Concerts next week on February 13th! Lottery Concerts are a uniquely Suzuki Method type of concert. Suzuki students are expected to review all of the pieces they have played so that they develop a large repertoire of performance ready pieces. In the Lottery Concert, the student brings a hat full of pieces that they review daily, and once on stage draws the piece they will perform from their “hat”.

Our Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) class

Our Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) class for this term will start on Saturday January 28, 2023 from 10 AM to 11 AM. Classes are located at St Gabriel School (5540-106 Ave). Tuition is $180 for 10 one hour sessions.

The class is free for expecting parents and infants under 3 months. Parking is also free.
