Senior Program

Students in the senior program generally have a weekly 1 hour private lesson and 1.5 to 2 hours of weekly group lesson which includes chamber music, orchestra and instrument specific group classes. The typical student in the senior division does at least an hour of daily home practice. Much of the practice is done independently, but while parents don’t supervise every minute they are there to make sure that effective practice happens on a regular routine.

Students in the senior program have solid reading skills and very reliable instrumental skills.  They are able to learn a new piece independently, or with minimal help from a teacher, if it is within their musical experience.

Students in the senior program may also be involved in an additional music activity outside of private lessons and STE group lessons, but the focus of their learning still takes place within STE.
